War Fragments Museum
is a volunteer-led cultural project
Dedicated to documenting and preserving the experiences of ordinary Ukrainians during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The five-member project team travelled across Ukraine’s liberated territories, collecting 300 stories, documenting them in two languages, creating 300 unique art objects, and developing the project from the ground up all the way to its first public auctions.
All of the stories and artefacts featured on the platform are the result of these expeditions. The website includes dedicated sections featuring stories from the Third Separate Assault Brigade and the AZOV Corps. The stories of AZOV service members focus on the battles for Mariupol and their experiences in Russian captivity. The stories of the Third Separate Assault Brigade cover both the battles for Mariupol and, more extensively, the liberation of Kyiv, Irpin, and Bucha. Each participant donated a personal artefact. These are deeply personal items belonging to service members who defended Mariupol or endured Russian captivity.
